Recipes with roofing battens

My wife loves gardening. I enjoy the garden but don’t like the nitty gritty of weeding, pruning and all the TLC that a good garden needs. My contributions are limited to cutting the grass whenever it grows, moving the odd shrub or tree around the garden as required (one apple tree is in its fourth spot and is still giving fruit every year) and complying with such requests as “I need a new flower bed,” and “Please will you make me a pergola/deck/planter/plant theatre?” The best one was the fence. We both hated waney lap fence panels so I decided to design and build my own. They were expensive but worth it.

I am sharing plans for my fence, a simple plant theatre, a square planter, a hexagonal planter and a pergola. All of these constructions use roofing battens for part of the build, hence the title, although in some cases it is a very minor part
